Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico is currently in need of Littles (children) to participate in their program. They have Bigs (adults) waiting for their chance to help. There are many one time volunteer opportunities including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico's big fundraisers "Bowl for Kids Sake." Additional volunteer opportunities include more Bigs (especially Big Brothers), help recruiting Bigs and Littles, board members with expertise in finance and marketing, and donation of IT expertise. CASA, First Judicial District needs more trained volunteers. There are currently many children in foster homes without a trained CASA volunteer. Volunteer efforts include court appointed advocates, but also CASAmigos which help with such things as outreach events, office organization, fundraising and grant writing, web site support, computer hardware and software support, and many other activities. Family Strengths Network is in need of ongoing IT assistance, people willing to wash toys that either youngsters have played with while visiting during the day or that have been loaned out and returned to the toy library, cleaning up libraries, child care during classes, coordinating groups, speakers for elementary schools (WHO program, will train but must be responsible and reliable) and also janitorial services. Additionally, volunteers are needed periodically for the Los Alamos Home Tour event.

The Los Alamos Senior Center need volunteers that can teach beginner computer classes to seniors (especially after Christmas as many seniors receive computers as gifts). A volunteer for some intermediate classes is also needed. Additionally, volunteer are needed for reading, teaching bridge, and tax preparation.
The Los Alamos Senior Center also provides volunteers through their Retired and Senior Volunteers (RSVP) program. Please check with either the Betty Ehart or White Rock Senior Center regarding this volunteer service.
