Los Alamos Family Council: Offers individual counseling and therapy, group or family therapy. Insurance accepted: Centennial Care (Medicaid expansion) and private Blue Cross Blue Shield; cannot accept clients without insurance, unless they desire to pay out-of-pocket, for which there is a reduced fee, but it is not a sliding scale.
Maternal and Child Health:
This program offers help with pregnancy/parenting, child behavior/ADHD, parent-child conflict, and child abuse. Services also include adolescent life skills group, intervention group, and juvenile community corrections case management for juvenile probation. Services are offered to residents of Los Alamos County.

The Los Alamos Public Health Office offers a variety of health services such as:
FREE SERVICES:
Immunizations - Routine vaccinations for children (bring shot records with you), flue shots for seniors 65 years of age and older (and for those with chronic illnesses), and some adult immunizations.
Tuberculosis (TB) - One and two step mantoux tests, chest X-ray referrals, and free TB medications and follow-up.
Sexually Transmitted Disease Screening and Treatment - Offered to men and women of all ages. Clinic usually held 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, by appointment.
Anonymous HIV testing - flexible appointments available, no name required, results in 2-3 weeks, counseling and referrals available.
Family Planning/Birth Control - Services include breast and pelvic/pap exams, counseling, and education about all birth control methods.
Pregnancy Testing - On-site urine testing and information, referrals, early application for Medicaid and care coordination available.
PROGRAMS:
Children's Medical Services (CMS) 505-753-3452 - CMS provides payment for care and service coordination for children aged 0-21 years with chronic diseases. Outreach clinics provided for children with cleft lip and/or palate, neurology, genetics and other special needs. Developmental concerns are addressed through he Family, Infant, Toddler Program (FIT) which provides service coordination, access to a multi-disciplinary team evaluation and linkage with early intervention programs and the public schools.
Disease Prevention - STD disease intervention, outreach services, HIV testing & counseling, overdose prevention program, hepatitis testing & counseling, breast & cervical early detection program, early intervention program, harm reduction and immunization program. These services are free and confidential.
Health Promotion - The Health Promotion Team works collaboratively with individuals, organizations, and communities to address public health concerns.Healthy Families First, Primeros Pasos - Offers resources and referral information, care coordination, and home visiting to families faced with multiple challenges. The program provides assistance to pregnant and new moms and their families to encourage moms to seek early prenatal care, provide knowledge and support with: pregnancy wellness, breastfeeding, parenting skills, stages of child development, importance of bonding and attachment, development screening, and referrals for childbirth education and care of the newborn. Services are provided to Medicaid eligible prenatal mothers and children up to the age of three.
Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) - WIC is a supplemental Food and Nutrition Education Program for Women, Infants, and Children, including: supplemental nutritious food, nutrition education, breast feeding education and support and referral to other health and social service programs. Services are provided to women who are pregnant, breast feeding, or children up to their 5th birthday. Recipients must reside in New Mexico, fall within income guidelines, and be at risk for medical or nutritional problems.
Medicaid Enrollment - New Mexikids (Medicaid) helps with: regular check-ups and periodic health screening, doctor visits, dental visits, hospital visits, prescriptions, glasses, vision and hearing exams. Medicaid offers:prenatal, pregnancy and family planning care. Services are free or low cost for health coverage of children up to the age of 19.
ADDITIONALLY: Please note that appointments are preferred. Health office services and records are confidential with the exception of immunization records that are shared with local schools (otherwise information is not shared without your consent). Most services are free regardless of income (although some services are available only to those with no insurance or low-income: LA Public Health Office will help you determine your eligibility). Family Planning services are based on a sliding fee scale (confidential teens' fees are based on their individual income). No one is refused services if unable to pay.

Help with getting dentures: This is available to persons who are low income and living in Section 8 housing.
Medicare Problems: HIBAC offers assistance with medicare problems.

Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service, Inc. offers a Home Health and Hospice Agency providing "intermittent" Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Medical Social Services and Home Health Aides.
Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Services, Inc. also provides a loan closet where you can borrow walkers, bedside commodes, bath benches, elevated toilet seats, walkers, crutches and other durable medical equipment.
Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurances are accepted. Services are provided under written physician orders in your home, under a plan of care developed to meet your individual needs. You may also choose to pay for a private duty service which includes nursing and home health aid services. These services are provided to patients in Los Alamos County, northern Santa Fe County, and parts of Rio Arriba County.
